Humbled

14 June 2013

Dear Josslyn,

It's 2:11 a.m. you're in the living room with your mother while I'm at my bedside still on my knees.

This life will compel and sometimes demand humility. I've said more sincere prayers in the last 8 hours than I have in the last 8 months.

I don't think there is a more helpless feeling  than when your child is sick.

In the past 24 hours you've developed a fever of 102. It's come down a few degrees but  resolving your discomfort is difficult.

It's so hard  to see you in pain.

You were given a blessing  before you went to bed, and even though it was ministered by an instrument as unworthy as me, I have faith it will work to comfort and heal you.

The priesthood is real. The Savior can heal. We have to go to Him.

Sometimes it takes a two foot miracle to get a man on his knees. Thank you, Josslyn for being here.

Love,
Dad

8 June 2013

Dear Josslyn,

Today started out really fun as we went to a great park near the Temple in Bellevue to take some pictures  of you to celebrate 18 months.

There were ducks everywhere!

Bubbles. Slide swing. Pinwheel at grocery store.

Everyone really tired.

Homemade Garlic Cream Sauce and Lobster Ravioli

5 June 2013

Dear Josslyn,

Mommy made a great meal today. Lobster ravioli was the plan but she wasn't sure what to do with sauce as the  marinara  wouldn't be very good.

Target after work.

Sunglasses. Dog on tv commercials.

Lunch at boarding house old ladies, young waitresses thought cute.

You ate orange slices.

Lingering car seat puke

Mommy, mommy. Oops!

Abracadabra! Let's go for a swim!

1 June 2013

Dear  Josslyn,

Looks like 7 am is the new wake up time for you and me, and therefore mom too.

Today was a beautiful day. Mom made us waffles. We played and watched some Disney Channel while mom got ready to go to a baby shower.

Mom dropped us off at the park with nothing but the bag and a stroller.

We walked to the trail head on Sunset but decided we weren't prepared enough for a hike like that, so back to the park we went.

We spent the next few hours swinging, climbing, and sliding at the depot park.

It was sunny and fun. When mom came back we all played for awhile then decided it was time for lunch or a nap.

We ended up at  the Issaquah Farmers market at Pickering  Barn. We all shared a torta and  quesadilla while watching a magic show.

The magician was a young boy not yet in his teens. You loved  watching him. You walked right up in front and clapped when  everyone clapped and danced when the music was on.

You fell asleep in the car on the way home and caught up on the nap you had been in need of since the park.

As soon as you woke up, you and I got in our swimming suits and headed to the pool with mom.

Our first swim of the summer! Your first swim since Christmas in Salt Lake City I think, and definitely your first swim in your new swimming suit.

You were timid and held on pretty tight, but started  laying on your tummy and kicking your legs. You liked  watching all of the other kids playing and jumping and splashing.

Lots of fun today. You really made mom and dad tired.

Love,
Your exhausted father

Officially a princess

30 May 2013

Dear Josslyn,

I didn't get to see you much at all today. You and I woke up, got changed and then had some breakfast. We shared a bowl of Honey Nut Cheerios while Mom made you eggs.

The next time I saw you was about 6 pm but only a short time as I headed off to a community awards dinner. I brought the car back for mom, so you and her could go have ice cream.

My boss Debbie came and picked me up and when I got in the car after only a few minutes of being home you got upset and started to cry. It made Debbie sad.

The next is saw you was after you had fallen asleep and I came home to check on you.

It didn't take long for me to find out why it was so important I go to the dinner. The first award was the  crowning of the king and queen of issaquah by the issaquah chamber of  commerce.

I was officially crowned and robed.

Love,
The princess of issaquah's father
